Balanced Tool Assemblies Boost Quality, Efficiency

Available from Prima North America, the Rapido Evoluzione 3D laser cutting system features high speed axis drives and high speed heads to reduce cycle times. The axis drives feature acceleration of 4G, while the direct-drive head prevents backlash and requires no gears or kinematics.

?

The laser cutter features a work volume of 160" × 60" ×?30" (4,080 × 1,530 ×?765 mm). The system’s ergonomic cabin is designed to provide accessibility to the workpiece and programming. The cabin fully encloses the machine and work area, including its ceiling, for increased safety and optimal fume and dust evacuation.

?

The system is equipped with Focal Position Control (FPC) functionality. In addition to providing quality,Carbide Drilling Inserts uniform cuts, this feature eliminates setup changes when alternating material types and thicknesses, the company says. Other features include a breakaway head that can be restored after a crash; a Safe Impact Protection System (SIPS) that protects the head, nozzle or sensor from damage; and a laser piercing monitor deep hole drilling inserts (LPS), which analyzes reflected light to determine parameters?to use for piercing.? ?

CNC Machining Gets a Composite Infusion

Röhm Products of America has introduced a fully automatic lubrication device for HSK-spindle tool-clamping systems. Lubritool is designed to minimize costly and time-consuming manual lubrication maintenance work as well as to prevent machine downtime.

The device is available in HSK-A63 and HSK-A100 interfaces and includes a Lubriflux grease cartridge for as many as 100 cycle applications. It is stored in the machine’s tool magazine and is swapped into the spindle upon command by the machine’s control to provide the ideal amount of lubrication Tungsten Steel Inserts directly to the tool clamping system. After a few seconds, it is placed back into the tool magazine, where it remains until the next lubrication cycle.

The company says that HSK clamping sets should be serviced after approximately 75 hours of operation (or 20,000 tool changes) to ensure process reliability. The manual lubrication process usually requires users to shut the machine down, interrupting workflow to the point that operators often extend the time between lubrications tungsten carbide inserts or neglect the process altogether. Deviations from the optimum lubrication protocols can result in machine performance deterioration and/or failure. The Lubritool is intended to prevent this situation by automating the lubrication process.

Shrink Fit Covers Carbide, Steel, HSS Shanks

A new solution for combining drilling and chamfering into one operation is being introduced by the company. This line of solid carbide drills—in conjunction with a chamfer collet chuck system—can be used instead of specialized step drills in many applications from 5/32" to 3/4" (4mm to 20 mm). This drill/chamfer combination is designed to perform at recommended drill parameters to the full depth of the hole.

?

The chamfer collars fit onto the company’s chamfer collar collet chucks, available for CT 40, CT 50, BT 30 , 40, 50, HSK 63A and straight shanks. These collet chucks use standard DR (ER) style collets and are offered Tungsten Steel Inserts in three sizes—DR 20, 25, 32. XT precision collets and nuts can also be used if greater clamping forces are required. The chamfer collars feature adjustable insert cartridges that are indexable to chamfer at a 90-degree included angle. Collars are TNMG Insert available in three sizes to fit the corresponding collet chucks. The company says this chamfering collar/collet chuck assembly features a balanced design to G2.5 at 10,000 rpm.

Tungaloy Upgrades DrillMeister DMP Drill Heads

Belmont Equipment and Technologies’ exclusive MX-140XW CNC sinker EDM is characterized by a programmable work tank level that is said to provide excellent operator ergonomics for loading and Helical Milling Inserts unloading, while maximizing unattended job operations that have different oil level requirements. This sinker is 87" wide × 83" deep, with X, Y and Z travels of 15.7", 11.8" and 15.7", respectively. Available open height is 25.7" and the maximum workpiece weight is 1,760 lbs.

Additional features include 12-orbit patterns to reduce the number of electrodes and achieve better surface finishes. Machine parameters can be adjusted and optimized during operation and then saved for more efficient production, and Belmont’s Adaptive Logic control is said to constantly guard against arcing and shorting of the electrode under Surface Milling Inserts poor cutting conditions. The MX-140XW also offers a linear glass scale with 1μ resolution and the ability to interface with ancillary devices, such as rotary tables, indexers and workpiece handling systems. Optional features include an automatic tool changer to increase unattended machining by automatically changing electrodes, as well as an integrated C-axis to position the electrode automatically, rotate round electrodes at a constant speed and program synchronized motion for applications such as threads and spirals.

Belmont says these features make the MX-140XW CNC sinker EDM well suited for the aerospace industry, as well as production applications.
